happy new year
my dad's birthday was yesterday, and i am sadly realizing that i, too, am getting old(er) these days. i'll be 25 this year, and he is now one year short of 65. good for medicare benefits and social security, but one more year closer to having all of those aches and pains and groans that come with getting older. for me, that includes too much of a belly (and, er, butt) that appeared spontaneously one day when i was looking at myself in the mirror. well, not exactly, but i definitely didn't have the 'ooh, my pants are getting tighter' moment as there was the winter-to-spring-to-summer transition of new seasonal clothes...which means i didn't notice until the following winter. boo.
while i was in therapy tonight (aka, driving up 101 to home from patrick's), i started to put together a list of new year's resolutions that i will try to keep. i don't remember mine from last year of course. and they are probably the same anyhow (except i already have a job now!) but here goes.
my (not) new year's resolutions:
1. lose 5 pounds a month until i can fit back into those tommy hil jeans that i bought a long time ago as an incentive to lose weight. keep track of weight at least twice a week.
2. exercise at least 3 times a week to help with 1. cardio and weights would be great. might have to join a gym to avoid getting stuck watching tv when i get home.
3. cook more often. which means do more grocery shopping. which means less eating out which helps with 2 and thus 1. no eating out (dinner) more than two times a week.
4. figure out what's happening with my finances. too many accounts all over the place.
5. pay off more of my student loan - at least pay off double my regularly monthly payment for the year.
6. (finally) sell all of the stuff that is cluttering my room on eBay.
6. clean said room.
7. stop buying so much bath and body stuff. limit of one new product per month. yes, this is a step forward for me. although i can tell you now that i will be hitting up the bath and body works sale at hillsdale sometime this week.
it's all about taking baby steps and setting *small* goals, right?
