yay! after weeks of desperately looking for a way to get GMail, google has invited select blogger users to sign up for a free account, and i'm one of those people! woohoo! unfortunately it doesn't offer any external methods for getting your mail (POP/IMAP) or an SMTP server, but you have to admit that 1 gig of space is pretty awesome.
since the mantra 'you pay for what you get' tends to be true, i decided to actually *pay* for a new email provider after my university account died. it's much better to sign up with a service that actually has paid guys working on it than a free or my-own-box-at-home email that may or may not die right before you're supposed to get that really important email. i'll add an affiliate link here soon in the hopes that the one person who reads my page might actually click on it, lol. here ya go
well, i had a phone interview yesterday, seemed to go pretty well. the past couple days it's been 90 degrees (my car thermometer said 100 at one point), and moving to the east coast is looking pretty good. i am really hoping that i can get a job soon, i'm doing the best i can even though most of the time it's very frustrating. i just ordered the parachute job hunt book from amazon, and i have to say it's one helluva amazing book. i am one of those cheap buggers who uses coupons all the time and only buys stuff when it's on sale, but this is definitely a worthwhile purchase. this guy's really made me reconsider what i have been doing for my job search and what i can do to improve my chances of finding the right, fun job for me in a great company. i've been just doing the craigslist and monster.com thing as well as a few nonprofit lists which really hasn't been working. good sign to start trying something new.
