wow, how this year has flown by! somehow, we're already in the latter half of october. time does speed up when you get older. it makes me think that while we're young and impressionable, we should be allowed to roam and explore the world, and leave the sitting-in-a-classroom-listening-to-a-lecture business for later. but then, we'd never have anyone working...and no one to make money for the rest of us to have a good time ;)

just got back from an advisory board for work. it was at the w san francisco, which i don't recommend anyone stay at. pretty good service, but the hotel is getting old, and lots of things need to be replaced or updated. like the super thin walls, the tv's, and the 900 mhz phones. it became a theme for the meeting, talking about how the hotel has become a hangout for the has-beens or wanna-bes and just doesn't have the cutting edge, modern, hip feel that it aspired to years ago when it opened. as any purveyor of high fashion can tell you, staying trendy can be expensive, and as styles age, they become what one guy called the lounge - uncomfortable eurotrash seating.

p is traveling, so i actually get a weekend (well, half a weekend now) to lounge around and take on all the mini projects that have become my room. it's amazing to think that we'll have been together for seven years this november. i mean, next year is our 5-year college reunion. wow. in that context, it's not so surprising that a lot of our friends are getting married right around now, particularly those who started dating even before us. four weddings this year, and more to come. it would have been nice to have them spaced out over the years a bit so it's like an annual reunion with our best buds.
