i just flipped on the tele to hear the annoying screech of the 'emergency broadcast system.' which reminded me about how much i hate that sound and how worthless it is. i guess radio and tv stations have to run that test now for legal reasons, but when has it ever been used.

here's a prime example - 9-11. when the planes hit, did you hear them ever use the emergency broadcast system to let people know what's going on? if that's not an emergency, what is? wouldn't you think that planes crashing into buildings and thousands of people dying/getting injured is enough of a reason, especially since (at least in the beginning) they had no idea what would be the next target?

plus...if ALL of the news stations 'interrupt our regular broadcast' to cover breaking news, then what's the point of even having the annoying screech? you get the news anyway, and they'll tell you if you're supposed to panic and run to your underground bomb shelter. if anything the noise just makes me turn off the tele.

yup, it's off now.
